Running your own business can be a blessing and a curse. With running your own business, it's easy to be stuck in a rut and constantly work at home in your favourite PJs. While that's super comfy & perfectly acceptable, getting motivated to actually be productive can be a challenge (too many TV series to watch!). Instead of being cooped up at home & feeling unproductive, I find that working at a cosy cafe helps a lot with improving productivity (this post being written in a cafe!).
A few criteria for me when picking out a cafe to work at are:
1. Comfy chairs & adequate height tables.
2. Must have coffee.
3. Relatively close to home.
4. Parking shouldn't be too painful.
5. Plug points & fast+stable internet!
Bearing in mind that I do live in SS1 (next to SS2) so I would naturally gravitate to places closer to home. :)
Gee & Geek.
Sun-Thurs, 11am-11pm, Fri-Sat, 11am-12am. Closed on Wednesday.
Americano/Long Black. RM8.
Flat White/Latte. RM10.
Unfussy tables & chairs. Relatively quiet environment. Doesn't get too crowded in the afternoon. Plenty of plug points. Fast & stable internet (perks of a cafe founded by geeks!). Decent coffee. Big breakfast at RM20 and other food & snacks available if you get hungry (try their omelette!). Parking can get crowded during lunch hours, park at the housing area if you can't find a spot closer.
Mon-Fri, 8am-12am, Sat-Sun, 9am-12am.
Long Black. RM6.
Flat White. RM11.
If you scored yourself a sofa seat, your bum will thank you. Can get crowded as a lot of people tend to work/study there. Could do with more plug points. Good coffee. Their breakfast set is pretty affordable if you go in the morning. Parking is a bitch if you don't come early in the morning.
Starbucks SS2/Borders The Curve.
SS2: Sun-Thurs, 930am - 12am. Fri-Sat, 930am-1am.
Borders @ The Curve: 10am-10pm daily.
Americano. Grande. With Tumbler. RM6.50.
Latte. Tall. With Tumbler. RM9.15.
Chairs are comfy, tables can be a little too low. Decent amount of plug points. Consistent coffee. Starbucks internet system which can be a little annoying. The Americano is affordable as you can get 4 espresso shots in a grande, get a tumbler to maximise the RM2 discount. Not a fan of Starbucks food, if you're in SS2 go for the rojak along the same row.
Espresso Lab Damansara Jaya.
Sun-Thurs, 8am-11pm, Fri-Sat, 8am-12am.
Flat white/Latte: RM10.
Chairs & tables are decently comfy. Somewhat busy during breakfast, can get crowded during lunch. Decent amount of plug points. I love their blend, so I am somewhat biased on the coffee front. Serves decent breakfast, lunch & dinner sets. 10% off for people who work in the area. Parking is a bitch if you don't come early in the morning.
Cat In The Box.
Sun-Thurs, 11am-10pm, Fri-Sat, 11am-1am.
Flate white/Latte: RM10.
Good table height, chairs could be a little more comfy. Could do with more plug points. Internet can feel a little flaky due to all the steel around the area. Give up all hope of using your phone's data, it won't work! Lots of natural lighting. Lovely ambiance. Decent coffee. Serves food, nothing to heavy though, so if you're hungry be sure to fill up elsewhere. Going to the bathroom can be a pain as it's outside of the outlet with no toilet paper! Parking is painful if you park inside Empire Damansara.
There you go! My list of favourite cafes for coffee & work! :)
Which of these have you been to and what are your favourites? Let me know if you've got any other cafes for me to check out! Would love to pop them a visit when I can! :)
Till next time,
