‘Here We Go’ reunite one year after contract termination…Argent takes FW spot
Alexis Sanchez, 34, is back in an Inter jersey after being released by the club a year ago. After a resurgent season with Marseille last season, Sanchez is hoping for a second chance at the Nerazzurri.
European soccer transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted on social media on Thursday (June 24), “Sanchez is going to Inter. After a year at Marseille, he is free to return to Inter. The agreement is finalized and a medical has been scheduled for Friday.” He did not leave out the ‘here we go’ signaling the impending transfer.
With the departures of Edin Dzeko (37-Fenerbahce) and Romelu Lukaku (30-Chelsea) this summer, the Nerazzurri had a number of options to fill their thinning attacking ranks. They reunited with Marko Arnautovic (34) after 13 years, but in addition to the veteran striker, they also hoped to bring in youngsters like Zlatan Ibrahimovic (24-Atalanta) and Paulinho (22-Arsenal).
However, unable to afford big-money transfers, Inter eventually turned to cheaper alternatives. They decided to bring back Sanchez, who ended his contract by mutual consent a year ago after performing below expectations. A year after it seemed like the two sides would never meet again, they are now smiling.
Inter will send Argentina international forward Joaquin Correa, 29, to Marseille to make room for Sanchez. Inter had hoped for an Argentine combination of Correa and Lautaro Martinez (25), but Correa disappointed with 10 goals and five assists in two seasons. After searching for a buyer for Correa, the Nerazzurri finally reached an agreement with Marseille.
Romano reported, “Correa is heading to Marseille. It’s a €20 million loan with an option to buy for €10 million. The clause is mandatory if Marseille qualify for the UEFA Champions League (UCL) in the 2024/25 season. The medical was scheduled for Friday,” the report said. In effect, the two clubs have swapped strikers. 먹튀검증
Sanchez played for Inter for three years, from 2019 to 2022. After a decent first season on loan, Sanchez signed a three-year contract with the Nerazzurri, but then fell out of favor. He eventually parted ways with the club after failing to fulfill his contract. He made a comeback last season with Marseille, scoring 18 goals, and is set to reunite with the Nerazzurri.
