Morikawa to miss ‘The Netflix Cup’ with back injury
Colin Morikawa (USA) announced his withdrawal from The Netflix Cup just hours before the event was scheduled to begin.
“I injured my back while working out last week and will not be able to compete in ‘The Netflix Cup’ today,” Morikawa said on his social networking service (SNS) on Friday (KST). “I’ve been looking forward to competing in this event for a long time, but I’ve come to the conclusion that I need to prioritize my recovery for next season.”
The Netflix Cup is an event golf tournament created by Netflix, the global video-on-demand (OTT) platform. It kicks off today at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will feature four players from the U.S. Professional Golf Association (PGA) Tour and four Formula One (F1) drivers. Four teams of one PGA Tour player and one F1 driver will compete in an eight-hole match, with the top two teams playing the final hole to determine the winner. 캡틴토토
Morikawa was originally one of four PGA Tour players competing alongside Rickie Fowler, Max Homa and Justin Thomas (USA). However, he withdrew and was replaced by Tony Finau (USA), who has six career PGA Tour victories. Among the F1 drivers are Alex Albon (Williams), Pierre Gasly (Alpine), Lando Norris (McLaren) and Carlos Sainz (Ferrari).
World No. 13 Morikawa won the JoJo Championship in October to improve to six wins on the PGA Tour. Two of his six career victories have come at major championships (2020 PGA Championship, 2021 The Open).
