Elling Holland has expressed his admiration for Cristiano Ronaldo.
He’s a ‘monster’ striker. Growing up in Salzburg, Holland quickly made a name for himself with his “crazy” physicality and athleticism and established himself as one of the world’s best strikers. He joined Manchester City in the 2022-23 season, and in his first year, he broke the Premier League (PL) single-season goalscoring record and led City to a big year in the UEFA Champions League (UCL).
It’s no wonder he’s been called the “icon” of 2020s soccer. He’s both a star and a player. He formed the perfect rivalry with Kylian Mbappe, and this season he’s still in peak goal-scoring form with 17 goals and four assists in 18 games, including cup competitions.
The player who has inspired Holland the most. None other than Ronaldo. The best player of all time, without a doubt. He built a rivalry with Lionel Messi that will never be matched, and he plays the most complete game as an attacker. He had a solid career with Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus, winning tons of trophies, including the Big One.
His personal record is also impressive. A multiple league top scorer, he also scored triple digits in the UEFA Champions League (UCL) and was dubbed the “Man of the Match”. Holland grew up watching Ronaldo play: “Did I watch him on YouTube? Of course, he’s my biggest inspiration. The way he developed his game, especially in the box. At Man Utd and in his first season at Real, he played as a winger, and then he changed his position to a striker. What he has done is incredible.”
