‘Side injury’ Doosan’s Yang Yang-ji suspended…KIA’s Kim Sun-bin also out
Yang Yang-ji (36, Doosan Bears) has been removed from the first team roster due to a side injury.
The Doosan Bears designated Yang Yang-ji for assignment and called up infielder Kim Min-hyuk ahead of their 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League series against the Samsung Lions, which began on Monday at Jamsil Baseball Stadium.
The reason for Yang’s removal was a side injury.
Yang complained of tonsil pain after the home game against KT Wiz on April 4, but the next day, he felt uncomfortable in his side during training. A medical examination on the 7th confirmed a muscle injury to his left side, and he was removed from the team.
Considered one of the best catchers in the league, Yang has been a solid fourth outfielder for Doosan this season. In 87 games, he’s batting .323 with nine home runs, 44 RBIs, and a .906 OPS. In his last 10 games, he’s batting well over triple digits.
Yang’s departure is a blow for Doosan, as he is considered an irreplaceable resource on offense and defense. It’s even worse because they lost to KT on the 6th, dropping them to 5th place. Doosan will be without Yang for at least 10 days, making the mid-table battle a tough one. 메이저놀이터
Meanwhile, the KIA Tigers, who are in sixth place, faced some bad news with the injury of Kim Sun-bin. Kim has been out of the lineup since the LG Twins game on August 8 due to a hamstring injury. This is especially disappointing as he had been hitting very well recently. In his place, KIA called up infielder Hong Jong-pyo.
