‘Taegeukmark debutant’ Moon Dong-joo gives up a run in the first inning on a shaky throwing error

Pitcher Moon Dong-ju (Hanwha Eagles) got off to a shaky start in his national team debut.

The South Korean baseball team, led by head coach Ryu Jung-il, will take on Chinese Taipei at 7:30 p.m. (KST) on Feb. 2 at the Shaoxing Baseball and Softball Sports Center in Zhejiang, China, in the second game of their Baseball Group B matchup at the Hangzhou Asian Games 2022. 무지개토토

Korea enters the second game off the back of a 10-0 cold-game victory over Hong Kong in the first game of the group stage the previous day (Jan. 1).

Ryu Joong-il’s team consisted of Kim Hye-sung (second baseman, Kiwoom Heroes) and Choi Ji-hoon (center fielder, SSG Landers) as table setters, followed by Noh Si-hwan (third baseman, Hanwha Eagles), Kang Baek-ho (designated hitter, KT Wiz), Moon Bo-kyung (first baseman, LG Twins), Yoon Dong-hee (right fielder, Lotte Giants), Park Sung-sung (shortstop, SSG Landers), Kim Hyung-joon (catcher, NC Dinos), and Kim Sung-yoon (left fielder, Samsung Lions).

The score was 0-1 in the bottom of the first inning.

Starting pitcher Moon Dong-joo threw a four-pitch fastball to the leadoff batter, Cheong Chung-seo, for a double. After getting the next batter, Lin Zhiwei, to ground out, Moon struck out Lin Li on a high pitch.

With runners on second and third, he threw Lin An-kou a high pitch on a two-ball two-strike play, allowing a single to center field.

At 0-1, she got Wu Nianting to ground into an infield single to prevent further damage.
