U18 Baseball Defeats Netherlands in ‘Six Lobes 5K’…Advances to Bronze Medal Game

The Korea National Under-18 Baseball Team has advanced to the bronze medal match at the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) World Youth Baseball Championship 2023.

Korea, coached by Lee Young-bok, defeated the Netherlands 3-1 in the final game of the Super Round of the tournament in Taipei, Taiwan, on Monday.

With the win, Korea improved to 2-3 overall and tied with the United States and Puerto Rico for fourth place in the team quality balance (TQB) standings, ahead of Puerto Rico.

Korea will play the third-place USA in the Super Round on Tuesday for the bronze medal.

Korea opened the scoring in the top of the first inning when Jung An-seok singled and Lee Chung-heon doubled to put runners on second and third before Park Ji-hwan singled. They added another run on an infield single by Cho Hyun-min.

In the bottom of the third, Cho Hyun-min doubled with two outs to extend the lead to 3-0.

South Korea’s starter Yuk Sun-yeop bounced back with 3⅔ innings of five-strikeout, one-run ball. After giving up a run in the fourth inning, Park Gun-woo came on to get out of the jam, while Kim Taek-yeon and Jeon Mir closed out the rest of the inning.

Meanwhile, Japan and Chinese Taipei, who finished first and second in the Super Round, will play for the title in the final. 먹튀검증
