Wilkerson leads Lotte to ‘team no-hitter’ against SSG…third time ever (overall)

The Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) have recorded the third team no-hitter in the league’s history.

Lotte did not allow a single hit in a 1-0 home win over the SSG Landers in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Sajik Stadium in Busan on June 6.

The LOTTE pitching staff of Aaron Wilkerson, Koo Seung-min, and Kim Won-joong allowed just two walks and no hits against SSG, completing a team no-hitter.

There have been 14 times in KBO history that a pitcher has achieved a no-hitter through the ninth inning, but this is only the third time a team has recorded a combined no-hitter.

Prior to Lotte, it was achieved by the LG Twins against the NC Dinos on October 6, 2014, and by SSG against NC in the opening game on April 2, 2022.

SSG did not have a single hit, with only Shin-soo Choo drawing two walks and advancing to third base.

In the top of the seventh inning, with the score 0-0, Choo drew a walk but was unable to follow it up with a hit.

SSG trailed 0-1 in the top of the ninth inning, and after two outs, Choo Shin-soo again drew a walk, but the next batter, Choi Ji-hoon, grounded out to first base to end the no-hitter.

Lotte, which had five hits on the day, scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth when pinch-hitter Lee Jung-hoon led off with a single to right and was followed by a bunt single by pinch-hitter Yoon Dong-hee.
