Yewon Lee dominates the WeMix Championship, winning $600 million in prize money

Lee Ye-won won the Wimix Championship, the finale of the 2023 season on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf Association (KLPGA) Tour.

Lee carded a 5-under 67 with an eagle, five birdies and a double bogey on the final day of stroke play at Haeundae Beach Golf & Resort (Par 72) in Gijang-gun, Busan, to win by one stroke.

Lee defeated Hanjin by five holes in the previous day’s singles match play to advance to the winners’ final Group A event. In stroke play on the second day of the tournament, she edged out second-place Noh Seung-hee by one stroke.

Lee ended the year on a high note. With three wins on the KLPGA regular tour, a first-place finish on the Women’s Order of Merit, and the top spot on the money list, she proved to be the player of the season.

“It was so exciting and fun,” Lee said of the new format, “and it feels great to win the last tournament of the season. I think I can give myself about 90 points this year,” said Lee.

The total prize pool for the WeMix Championship was 1 million WeMix, which is approximately $2.6 billion at today’s market price, making it the largest prize pool ever for the final championship event of the season. The first-place prize was worth 250,000 Wimix, which is approximately $600 million. 캡틴토토 도메인
